Pirates of Penzance - Port Theatre, Nanaimo DAY TRIP
    Pirates

The South Island Musical Theatre Society presents The Pirates of Penzance with music by Arthur Sullivan and libretto by W. S. Gilbert. Wacky and irreverent, this musical is as entertaining today as when it first opened in 1879. This production spins a hilarious farce of sentimental pirates, bumbling policemen, dim-witted young lovers, dewy-eyed daughters and an eccentric Major-General, all morally bound to the ridiculous dictates of duty.

Travel; theatre ticket; sightseeing; and door-to-door pickup will all be provided.
Please confirm before February 1, 2015.

  • Wednesday, March 11 - Thursday, March 12
Celtic Thunder Symphony Tour - Victoria

Celtic Thunder is an Irish singing group whose stage show is frequently featured on PBS concert specials. Celtic Thunder is known for its eclectic, theatrical style show. The group is backed by the Celtic Thunder Band on their concert tours, and their live shows are known for the use of dramatic set pieces (often invoking symbols of ancient Celtic mythology), visual effects, and highly choreographed staging. Celtic Thunder

Travel; accommodation (one night in Victoria); concert ticket; continental breakfast; sightseeing; and door-to-door pickup will all be provided.
Please confirm before February 1, 2015.

  • Tuesday, March 17 - Wednesday, March 18
The Irish Rovers - Farewell to Rovin' - Port Theatre, Nanaimo
    Irish Rovers

The Irish Rovers celebrate 50 Years of Music on March 17th. This concert will be filmed LIVE, so beware - you may appear on camera!  With a career spanning 50 years the Irish Rovers are slowing down their touring schedule - ironically at a time when they're getting some of the best reviews of their career.

At the concert, fans will enjoy a mix of The Rovers' hits, rollicking jigs and reels, plus hilarious stories from their years on the road. A behind-the-scenes camera will be filming concert-goers who would like to share a birthday message or Irish Rovers story. "The Irish Rovers, 50 Years" triple CD set will be available at the concert.

Travel; accommodation (one night in Nanaimo); concert ticket; sightseeing; and door-to-door pickup will all be provided.
Please confirm before February 10, 2015.

  • Thursday, April 9 - Sunday, April 12
Around the World in 80 Days - Palm Court Light Orchestra, Sydney & Madame Butterfly - Pacific Opera, Victoria
    Around the World

Victor Young's famous song "Around the World in 80 Days" sends us on a musical journey that includes The Warsaw Concerto, music by Eric Coates, Leroy Anderson and Robert Farnon.

Palm Court music brings forth images of potted palms, gracious grand hotels and ballroom dancers in elegant evening dress. The Palm Court Light Orchestra typically plays popular light classics from the early 1900's as well as marches, ragtime, and musical gems from the early days of cinema, between the two world wars. It is best described as light-hearted music that sends you home smiling!

In Madame Butterfly a young geisha renounces her family to marry an American man. When he leaves to go back to his own country, she waits with their child for his return. Though she is the gentlest of heroines, Butterfly has formidable inner strength. Guided by honour and fidelity, sustained by hope, she refuses for the longest time to believe she has been abandoned. Madame Butterfly

Puccini himself loved Butterfly above all his heroines - "her for whom I wrote music in the night." And what music! The score pours out lush melodies, infused with delicate Japanese harmonies - it is as ravishing as anything in opera!

Travel; accommodation (three nights in Victoria); concert ticket; opera ticket; sightseeing; and door-to-door pickup will all be provided.
Please confirm before February 1, 2015.

  • Thursday, May 14 - Friday, May 15
    The Mousetrap - Chemainus Theatre
    Mousetrap

The Mousetrap is the longest running London theatre performance in history!

Who will escape Monkswell Manor? A snow storm traps curious guests, a police detective and a killer in a series of betrayals and murders. No one escapes suspicion ... no one is safe ... until the final moments of mystery!

Travel; accommodation (one night in Chemainus); theatre ticket; one dinner and one continental breakfast; sightseeing; gratuities; and door-to-door pickup will all be provided.
Please confirm before April 14, 2015.

  • Wednesday, May 20 - Thursday, May 21
Brittania Mine - Brittania Beach & Explore Bowen Island
    Britannia

The Britannia Mine Museum, a National Historic Site, formerly known as the British Columbia Museum of Mining, was established in 1971 to preserve the material and social history of mining in British Columbia, and to educate the public about mining. Knowledgeable interpreters will take you aboard the mine train and usher you deep inside the mine where ancient drills will once again be fired up.  There are dozens of clever exhibits, films, displays and hands-on activities, including gold panning! Bowen

The Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal provides transportation to Langdale and to Bowen Island. This marks the first time Heather Tours will explore the island that has as its slogan "Within Reach, Beyond Comparison". Approximately 6 km wide by 12 km long, the island has a permanent population of 3,402 that swells to almost 5,000 in the summer. We will travel the island roads and visit The Bowen Island Museum & Archives and Artisan Square.

Travel; accommodation (one night in Horseshoe Bay); mine museum ticket; Bowen museum admission; sightseeing; and door-to-door pickup will all be provided.
Please confirm before April 21, 2015.

Frances Barkley Freighter, Port Alberni to Ucluelet & Tofino
    Francis Barkley

"You are about to spend a day much as you might have done over 70 years ago, when the Lady Rose was a baby and the principal means of transportation along the B.C. coast was by ships and crew similar to the Lady Rose and today's  Frances Barkley. The Frances Barkley emulates the slower pace of life of yesteryear and while aboard you'll have plenty of time to look for wildlife and enjoy the scenery as well as make the acquaintance of your fellow passengers." Tofino

A popular tourist destination in the summer, Tofino's population swells to many times its winter size. It attracts surfers, nature lovers, campers, whale watchers, fishermen, or anyone just looking to be close to nature. In the winter it is not as bustling, although many people visit Tofino and the west coast to watch storms on the water. Close to Tofino is Long Beach, a scenic and popular year-round destination, at the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.

Travel; accommodation (one night in Port Alberni and two nights in Tofino); freighter ticket; sightseeing; and door-to-door pickup will all be provided.
